Sporting Fields
Hurstville City Council manages more than 50 sporting fields in the local government area, which are available for use by clubs, associations, schools and other community organisations. Sports catered for include athletics, Australian rules football, baseball, cricket, cycling, netball, OzTag, rugby league, rugby union, touch football, soccer and swimming.
If you are interested in pursuing any of these sports, you should contact the relevant sporting association to find your local club.
Council is helping the community to keep fit and active by providing new facilities in popular local parks under our Infrastructure Plus capital works program in the suburbs.
Fitness stations
Council has installed exercise stations at Olds Park, Mortdale, and Smith Park, Kingsgrove. Four fitness stations constructed at Olds Park can be used for exercises including cycling, walking and leg, upper body and abdominal work-outs.
The stations are positioned close to the cycling and pedestrian track, so that people can incorporate them into their regular fitness routine. The fifth fitness station, at Smith Park, is a multi-station which provides exercises for the upper and lower body.
Golf practice cages
Keen golfers of all ages and skill levels can use free golf cages at Gannons Park, Peakhurst, and Olds Park, Mortdale to practice their swing. The golf practice cages have been provided to ensure golfers practice their game legally and safely in our parks, and to cater for the diverse recreational needs of Hurstville City residents.
Golf cages are totally enclosed and include a pad to hit off from and a net to hit into. These facilities are open each day during daylight hours. For safety reasons, only one person can use each cage at any one time.
