Youth Week

Youth Week is a annual celebration of young people and youth culture. Youth Week supports the celebration of positive engagement of young people in their communities. ST GEORGE 'SHORT STUFF' YOUTH FILM FESTIVAL

YOUTH WEEK 2014

To celebrate Youth Week 2014, Hurstville City Council is inviting local young people to take part in the St George ‘Short Stuff’ Film Festival.

 
Budding young filmmakers are invited to enter a film into the festival, with over $3000 worth of cash prizes on offer. This fast-paced competition is open to anyone aged 12 – 24 years. Filmmakers of all skill levels are encouraged to take part and films can be made using smart phones, tablets or cameras.
 
The following conditions apply to enter a film:

  • The film can be about any topic, however filming must take place, and films submitted between 6pm, Friday 4th April and 6pm, Sunday 6th April.
  •  Entrants must attend the opening night (Friday 4th April, 6pm at Shopfront Theatre, 88 Carlton Parade, Carlton) to register and receive the list of items which must be included in the film.

Technical staff will be on hand from 10am - 6pm on both Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 April at Shopfront Theatre. They will be able to assist and provide valuable advice to entrants on all aspects of filming, directing and editing their entries.
 
All films entered will be considered for screening at the 'Short Stuff' Film Screening which is being held at Greater Union Cinema, Hurstville on Friday 2nd May.

This project has been developed in celebration of National Youth Week 2014 (4th - 13th April) and is a partnership between Hurstville City Council, Kogarah City Council and Shopfront Theatre for Young People.
