This one day introductory workshop aims to strengthen the knowledge and skills of employees and volunteers of Government, Non-Government and private organisations to better understand and support people who have experienced mental illness. The workshop is facilitated by mental health clinicians who bring their wealth of clincial experience to the day. Participants also benefit from the invaluable experience of hearing from someone with a lived experience of mental health problems. The course explores issues around stereotyping and stigma, looks at common mental illnesses, risk and protective factors in mental illness along with the meaning of recovery from mental illness. Other topics include understanding and responding to suicide and self harm, how to navigate the St George Mental Health Service, carer and family support and self care.

This 3 week course is based on the work of Dr Thomas Phelan, a clinical psychologist with 20 years experience helping families understand and manage their children’s behaviour.
This course helps parents of children 2-12 yr to understand what motivated their child, how their own behaviour can influence their child, how to emotionally connect with and coach their child, and how to manage their child's behaviour.
Parents are given three strategies to choose from when children misbehave and shown how to encourage cooperation and helpfulness around the home.
There are also some helpful tips for creating healthy relationships between parent and child.

This program provides parents with insight into the internal world of teens and pre-teens.
The course is designed to help parents address the challenges of adolescents.
This course gives you the tools to equip your teenager with a strong sense of self, responsibility and resourcefulness, and to help you on your journey of letting go and handing over some of the controls as your young person learns to fly solo.
