Sustainable Schools Program

Hurstville City Council is committed to educating people of all ages about the benefits of waste reduction and recycling.

Council offers a Sustainable Schools Program in which environmental educators visit local schools and explore with students ways that they can help the environment.

School sessions are informative and interactive and include education on:

  • waste minimisation
  • reuse of unwanted materials
  • recycling
  • composting and worm farming.

At the conclusion of each session, students receive a colouring book, recycled paper pen or pencil and recycled plastic ruler, along with a calico bag promoting environmental sustainability and a bookmark.
