Forest Road Streetscape Project: Stage One

10 Aug 2015

In late July 2015,  Mayor of Hurstville, Cr Con Hindi announced the Forest Road Streetscape Project Stage One. This project aims to transform the streetscape in the Hurstville City Centre and will complement the significant investment that is occurring elsewhere in the area such as the $100million upgrade of Westfield Hurstville. The revitalisation of the streetscape will in turn attract more residents, businesses, services and shoppers to this vibrant shopping precinct.

About the Project

  • The multi-million dollar project will include:
  • new paving on public footpaths
  • new street lighting
  • the replacement street furniture and the installation of shade facilities in Memorial Square
  • replacing street trees
  • the introduction of new garbage bins to encourage recycling

Where the project will take place

The streetscape improvements will occur along footpaths on both sides of Forest Road between the Hurstville Transport Interchange and Rose Street. The map below outlines the area where the works will take place.

About the Contractor

The QMC Group has been awarded the contract to deliver the project. The company has achieved a reputation for high quality work in public spaces such as the Pitt Street Mall in the Sydney CBD.

When will the works take place?

The works will commence in mid-August and the construction will take between eight and nine months – dependent on weather conditions. In order to minimise disruption to local businesses and the public the works are scheduled to take place after business hours and at night. During the construction period, Council and the contractor will liaise closely with local businesses and the public to provide updates on the project.
