Did you know almost 50% of what goes into your red lid bin is organic waste? Recycling organic waste, such as food scraps and garden waste, can help reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.
Hurstville City Council is offering free, hands-on workshops on composting and worm farming for residents of the Hurstville local government area.
These workshops will give residents the tools to set up a compost bin or worm farm and maintain it effectively.

Tuesday 22 May 2012, 6.00pm-8.00pm - Composting
Saturday 26 May 2012, 2.00pm-4.00pm - Composting & Worm Farming
Thursday 7 June 2012, 6.00pm-8.00pm - Worm Farming
Saturday 16 June 2012, 2.00pm-4.00pm - Composting & Worm Farming
Thursday 21 June 2012, 6.00pm-8.00pm - Composting
Wednesday 4 July 2012, 10.00am-12.00noon - Composting & Worm Farming for Kids**
Wednesday 11 July 2012, 10.00am-12.00noon - Composting & Worm Farming for Kids**
** These workshops are for school children ages 6-12.
All workshops will be held at the Hurstville City Council Civic Centre, MacMahon St, Hurstville. Light refreshments will be provided.
Free compost bins, worm farms or bokashi buckets will be given to all participants. Proof that you are a resident is required (i.e. rates notice, drivers licence, addressed mail).
Bookings are essential and places are limited.
