Rugby league legend Mark Gasnier will be talking about his autobiography Gaz at Hurstville City Library on Wednesday 29 August 2012 at 7.00pm
Mayor of Hurstville, Cr Steve McMahon said this was an opportunity for fans to hear firsthand about Mark Gasnier’s life and 11-year career.
“Gaz is a frank and honest look at the down-to-earth person behind one of rugby league’s most famous names,” he said.
“In his autobiography, Mark candidly opens up about the highs and lows of his career.
“From his early days in Mortdale through to his shock retirement last year, he talks about the Gasnier name and the pressure on the St George-Illawarra Dragons to win that elusive premiership.
“Mark discusses a career plagued by injury, his forced decision to defect to French rugby and return to rugby league two years later, and how he managed to stay grounded throughout his extensive career.”
Mayor McMahon said that Mark Gasnier is regarded as one of the best players in the game in recent years, playing at club, State of Origin and international levels.
“He scored over 100 tries in his rugby league career, and won that elusive premiership with the St George-Illawarra Dragons in 2010,” he said.
