‘Give it up’ and help others
27 Apr 2012
Mayor of Hurstville, Cr Steve McMahon is encouraging everyone to get behind Australian Red Cross’s new fundraising campaign ‘Give it Up’
Mayor McMahon said the idea is to give something up for the month of May.
“What you give up is entirely up to you – the aim is to help others who are doing it tough every day and raise funds for the Australian Red Cross,” he said.
“Some ideas include giving up your daily cappuccino, dining out or your Saturday shopping spree.
“Maybe you are a chocoholic, or you enjoy a glass of wine, why not take up the challenge and help raise much needed funds for this organisation.
“Then you either raise money or donate the money you would have spent to the Australian Red Cross.”
Mayor McMahon said that if you can’t do it in May, then not to worry as you can still do it in June.
“And if you raise $150 or more and give it to the Red Cross by 2 July 2012 you could be the lucky winner of an amazing 15 day trek in Machu Picchu,” he said.
“So get involved in this worthy cause and register now at www.giveitup.org.au”
