Infrastructure Plus
Hurstville City Council is continuing to fulfil its commitment in the suburbs through the Infrastructure Plus program of capital works. A priority for next year is to maintain infrastructure at acceptable standards, while addressing safety and road traffic issues.
In 2009-2010 Council is spending $150,000 on approximately 1300 square metres of footpath repairs. Locations will be based on risk, clustering and pedestrian safety. Council is spending an additional $450,000 on capital works from general revenue.
In addition, $940,000 has been allocated for road re-sheeting and sealing, and kerb and gutter maintenance. These works will be funded through Infrastructure Plus ($520,000), Roads to Recovery ($290,000), the Road and Traffic Authority ($84,000) and the 3x3 Levy ($46,000).
Also, $500,000 of Infrastructure Plus funding will be used to undertake building maintenance, based on asset risk and condition, having proper regard for the remaining life of each asset.
Other projects proposed are the Mortdale and Penshurst shopping centre upgrades, to include CCTV coverage of hot spots, Penshurst and Mortdale shopping centre strip upgrades, and improved parking.
Parks and playgrounds
