Green Army

Hurstville City Council were recently awarded two Green Army teams to undertake regeneration works along Salt Pan Creek. The Salt Pan Creek Riparian Restoration Program is supported by the Australian Government’s Green Army Programme and the Conservation Volunteers Australia. There are two main project sites along Salt Pan Creek with the first team working from the end of the Clarendon Road boat ramp to Hymen Street and the second from Hymen Street to the Henry Lawson Drive bridge.

The teams will work to rehabilitate, restore and conserve this important natural environment. The primary activities will be bush regeneration through weed treatment, natural regeneration, rubbish removal and revegetation. The team will be comprised of nine 17-24 year olds interested in gaining training and experience in protecting their local environment.
