Community Partnerships

Hurstville City Council works closely with a range of organisations to improve community wellbeing:

Cancer Council NSW

Council has a partnership with Cancer Council NSW, which is aimed at reducing the impact of cancer on local residents.

Cancer Council NSW's Local Government Partnerships program uses Council outlets, networks and venues to provide cancer prevention and support programs to people and organisations in the local community. The programs include sun safety advice for workplaces and childcare centres, skin cancer awareness programs for older citizens and cancer prevention resources for Council libraries.

More than 400 residents in the Hurstville local government area are diagnosed with cancer each year and more than 100 die annually from the disease.

Residents of all ages in the Hurstville local government area have access to a range of cancer prevention programs and educational materials through the program.

Shade marquee

Community groups can borrow a Cancer Council NSW shade marquee to use at their events and activities. The marquee provides protection from the hot sun during summer, when lots of community functions are held.
