Chemical Clean Out program

Next Household Chemical CleanOut to be held on:
When: Saturday 30th June 2012 & Sunday 1st July 2012
What Time: 9.00am and 3.30pm
Where: Hurstvile City Council Works Depot
Roberts Ave, Mortdale
Hurstville City Council actively promotes the household Chemical CleanOut program run by the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage. This event allows residents to dispose of household quantities of unwanted paints and chemicals. Each year on the first weekend in July Council hosts the event at the Council Works Depot in Mortdale. Other drop off locations are available in the Sydney metropolitan area throughout the year.
Materials accepted include:
- Paints
- Pesticides and herbicides
- Poisons
- Solvents and chemical cleaners
- Motor oils, fuels and fluids
- Car batteries
- Gas bottles
- Fire extinguishers
- Flares
- Pool chemicals

- Acids and alkalis
- Hobby chemicals
- Florescent tubes.
Only household quantities of up to 20 kilograms or 20 litres of chemicals will be accepted.
Council collected almost 41 tonnes of material in the 2011 Clean Out event.
This is a free event sponsored by Hurstville City Council and the Office of Environment and Heritage.
