Bush Fire Prone Land

The Commissioner of the NSW Rural Fire Service has certified a map detailing bush fire prone land for Hurstville City Council's local government area.

Building in Bush Fire Prone Land

If you are planning to undertake development for any purpose on bush fire prone land you must comply with the NSW Rural Fire Service "Planning for Bush Fire Protection 2006' and applicants must submit a Bushfire Assessment Report. The NSW Rural Fire Service have developed a Single Dwelling Application Kit to assist in the preparation of the Bushfire Assessment Report.

Undertaking a Subdivision in Bush Fire Prone Land

Subdivision within Bush Fire Prone Land requires not only approval by your Local Council but also approval in the form of a Bush Fire Authority, must be obtained from the NSW Rural Fire Service in accordance with Section 100B of the Rural Fires Act 1997. The NSW Rural Fire Service provides advice for Residential Subdivision in Bush Fire Prone Land.
